Our House System

At Tadworth Primary School, every child belongs to one of our four houses. Our house system is designed to foster a sense of belonging, encourage healthy competition, and develop leadership and teamwork across different age groups.

Meet the Houses

Upon joining the school, children are allocated to one of four houses (siblings are always placed in the same house to keep the team spirit in the family!):
Dragons

Phoenix

Griffin

Pegasus

Earning House Points

House points are a celebration of our school values in action. Any member of staff can award points to a child for:

  • Hard Work: Demonstrating resilience and giving their best effort in lessons.

  • Kindness: Looking after others and being a supportive friend.

  • Excellence: Showing a high standard of behaviour or achievement.

The Totaliser

The excitement builds throughout the term as points are collected! Every half-term, the final scores are calculated and announced in our school assembly. We use a Totaliser in the school hall - a visual display where coloured discs are added to show which house is currently in the lead.

Events and Competitions

While house points are earned daily, the system truly comes to life during our annual Sports Day and various inter-house competitions. These events are a fantastic way for children to learn the importance of supporting their teammates and good sportsmanship.

"Being part of a house helps us learn how to work together and take pride in our collective achievements." — The Tadworth House Captains
