Reception

Welcome to Reception and to your child’s very first year at school! This is a special time for both you and your child and we aim to make it as smooth, productive and enjoyable as we can, for both parents and children.

The Early Years (as we are also known) is made up of The Bumblebees and The Ladybirds.  Mrs Watkins is the class teacher for The Bumblebees and is supported full time by Mrs Stockwell - Teaching Assistant (TA).  Miss Devine is the class teacher for Ladybirds and is supported by her TA, Mrs Brown.

‘Reception’ is the very start of your child’s formal education and is an extremely important time in which we will be laying the foundations for your child’s future learning. We aim to provide a safe, inspirational, supportive and challenging environment in which our children will begin their learning journey.

During the year, your child will enjoy a variety of different topics including:

• People who help us – this will include visits from a doctor, a flight attendant and a librarian
• Seasons – this will include looking at harvest time and the onset of winter
• Animals  around the world – this includes a visit either to a local farm or London Zoo
• The children will enjoy lots of picture books and also take part in story telling.

You will be invited in to celebrate their successes in the Spring term for a Celebrations Assembly as well as seeing your little ones perform on stage at Christmas Time in their Christmas Production and in the summer for a Year Group assembly linked to one of the topics.

We are fortunate enough to have well-resourced Early Years' classrooms with a covered outdoor area so the children will be able to learn outdoors throughout the year.
