Policies

We are currently consulting on our Behaviour and Anti-Bullying Policies, which can be viewed using the links in the left-hand column. 

Behaviour : A significant amount of time has been spent developing our Behaviour Policy which has included input from the children, staff, governors and a range of external professionals.  The policy includes recommended sections from best practice guidance, many of which have not been relevant to Tadworth in the past, but which are included in case such exceptional circumstances were to arise.   If you have any comments you would like to make regarding the policy, please e-mail us at info@tadworthps.surrey.sch.uk before Monday 16 January.  A summary version of the final policy will be circulated to all parents once it has been formally adopted at our next Full Governing Body meeting.

Anti-Bullying Policy: Last term, we spent time with the children talking about bullying through whole school assemblies and lessons in class.  One of the key elements was to have an agreed definition of what bullying is.  As a school we agreed the following:

‘Behaviour by an individual or group usually repeated over time, that intentionally hurts another individual or group either physically or emotionally’.

We agreed bullying differs from teasing/falling out between friends or other types of aggressive behaviour because:

▪ There is a deliberate intention to hurt or humiliate

▪ There is a power imbalance that makes it hard for the victim to defend themselves

▪ It is usually persistent

We explored with the children ‘what to do if’ they think they are bullied with the key message being to tell an adult at school so that the matter can be fully investigated and followed up as necessary.  We were pleased to note that during Cheryl Butler’s (Behaviour Advisor) visit last term, she spoke to many of the children who articulated that in their opinion there was no bullying at Tadworth.  If you would like to read our draft Anti-Bullying Policy it can be seen by following this link.  Any comments can again be sent to info@tadworthps.surrey.sch.uk before Monday 16 January .                          JK
